Iż-Żewġt Uċuħ tal-Knisja Kattolika Maltija : il-Wiċċ Modern

Ir-reliġjon u r-raġuni rari jimxu flimkien, inqas u inqas imxew flimkien fl-aħħar xhur malli faqqgħet il-kwistjoni tad-divorzju f’Malta. Pero’ qalb il-kakofonija ta’ paroli, ministri jaraw il-Madonna tibki, theddid bl-Infern, it-terremoti ta’ Anġelik, ilpup u briganti, purċissjonijiet tas-salvazzjoni, billboards kontra billboards etċ etc etċ, qalb dan kollu, sibna 4 qassisin li tkellmu b’ton li jinftiehem fis-sena 2011 u mhux fl-1961. Tkellmu b’saqajhom ma’ l-art u forsi qalgħu tumakka minn taħt ukoll talli għamlu dan għaliex il-Knisja mhix istituzzjoni demokratika bid-dritt ta’ l-espressjoni mnaqqax fil-ġebel.

Aħna tal-Mazzun ġbarna ftit il-kliem ta’ dawn l-4 qassisin li fil-fehma tagħna tkellmu bis-sens. Ma jfissirx li naqblu magħhom imma għallinqas l-ebda wieħed minnhom ma jsemmi l-Infern, Madonni jibku, lpup u briganti jew ġiegħel nies joħorġu bi protesta mill-knisja. (Ma’ kull isem hemm link għat-test sħiħ ta’ dak li qalu). Fit-tieni parti imbagħad se nġibu l-kwotazzjonijiet totalment kontra l-ispirtu ta’ kif tkellmu dawn il-qassisin.

Fr. Rene Camilleri

Theologian Fr Rene Camilleri was interviewed on One TV programme Inkontri on October 18, 2010, during which he said he can never agree with divorce.

“The Church can never agree with divorce, I can never agree with divorce…the Church will continue to talk about what it believes in regarding family issues, but the Church has no power to stop this country from making decisions which fall within the competence of politicians,” Fr Camilleri said.

“After two thousand years of Catholic tradition all this panic on divorce has ensued because “our people have not been taught to educate themselves on the meaning of an informed conscience,” he said.

Fr. Colin Apap

I find it counter-productive to use the figures of Christ, Our Lady and the Saints in a divisive divorce debate. What happened during the Duluri Procession was nauseating, reminiscent of the crusades of the 1960s.

“Christ’s teaching on divorce has been applied differently throughout the ages. Marriage, according to Christ, is a mutual and total commitment of husband and wife. All ends and properties of marriage flow from this notion. Indissolubility is part and parcel of this intimate union between two people. Permanence and exclusivity of marriage is good for the children, the family, society and love. Christ enriched this union and made it a sacrament, a means of salvation, and a sign of the union between Christ and His Church. This union between Christ and His Church can never be severed…

“Obviously – but it is not obvious to all – whatever arguments can be brought against divorce and remarriage are equally binding against separation and cohabitation. Nobody has ever questioned the right of the Church to grant separation. Why should we doubt that the Church too has the right to grant remarriage after divorce?”

“In the first millennium of the Christian era, there were several examples of divorce and remarriage permitted by the Church.

“Marriage and its indissolubility are fundamental values in the teaching of the Catholic Church. To defend these values is paramount. But are we sending the right message? Do crusades help people to accept the Church’s teaching on marriage? Or is the impression being given that we are more concerned with power than with the plight of so many dysfunctional marriages?

Dun Charles Vella ta’ Kana

Fr Mark Montebello

“Ghal Gesù, iz-zwieg hu haga qaddisa. Mhuwiex sempliciment kuntratt bejn ir-ragel u l-familja tal-mara. Ghalkemm Gesù ma jaghti ebda dritt zejjed lill-mara aktar milli kienet taghti l-ligi Lhudija ta’ zmienu―nghidu ahna, id-dritt tad-divorzju―xorta wahda jqis iz-zwieg bhala ghaqda mbierka minn Alla. Id-divorzju li kien jaccetta Gesù ma kienx inehhi l-qdusija taz-zwieg jew l-importanza mill-aktar kbira tal-ghaqda konjugali fis-socjetà. Id-divorzju legali hu element sfortunat u ta’ niket f’dan il-qasam. Ma jitqiesx bhala t-tkissir taz-zwieg, imma bhala l-konferma tat-tkassir tieghu. Fl-ahhar mill-ahhar, iz-zwieg dejjem jitkisser minhabba d-dnub u d-dghufija umana.

Bhala Lhudi nisrani, San Pawl kien jaccetta d-divorzju wkoll. Fl-Ittra lill-Efesin (5:22-33) huwa jinsisti fuq il-qdusija u s-siwi enormi taz-zwieg u jasal biex iqabbilhom mal-ghaqda bejn Kristu u l-Knisja tieghu. San Pawl isostni li, ghalkemm zwieg bhal dan ikun jghodd, jekk tinqala’ sitwazzjoni ta’ impossibbiltà ta’ “ghajxien fis-sliem” bejn il-koppja, iz-zwieg ghandu jinhall. “Ghax Alla sejjhilkom biex tghixu fis-sliem,” isostni San Pawl (7:15).  L-impossibbiltà ta’ kuntentizza fiz-zwieg jidher li hi bazi bizzejjed biex San Pawl jestendi jew iwessa’ l-interpretazzjoni dejjqa ta’ Gesù ghal kazijiet ohrajn li ma jidhirx li Gesù kien jinkludihom fil-perspettiva tieghu taz-zwieg u d-divorzju.

Il-Knisja Ortodossa u l-bicca l-kbira tal-Knejjes Protestanti jaccettaw id-divorzju wkoll. Dawn huma insara veri u proprji, bi tradizzjoni nisranija relevanti u rispettabbli u li lkoll kemm huma jemmnu fil-qdusija u l-pre-eminenza taz-zwieg, tas-sagrament matrimonjali u l-familja.

Jidher li hemm erba’ konkluzjonijiet li nistghu naghmlu dwar il-hsieb, it-taghlim u l-prattika ta’ Gesù, li huma dawn:

  1. Gesù kien iqis iz-zwieg bhala ghemil qaddis.
  2. Gesù kien jaccetta wkoll id-divorzju.
  3. Gesù kien jaccetta d-divorjzu biss f’kaz li l-mara ma tistax tohrog tqila u/jew meta l-mara tinqabad f’adulterju, incest, lesbjanizmu, bestjalità, prostituzzjoni u/jew xi att sesswali illecitu iehor
  4. Gesù kien jaccetta li, f’dawn il-kazijiet, id-divorzju mhuwiex ta’ bilfors, imma biss jekk irid ir-ragel.
